About
Welcome to Contra-Legem.com, the same old rants from yours truly, but refined in the fine arts of computer graphics and HTML editing.
About Me
My name is not important, it is insignificant compared to the concerns I have conciously (or otherwise) expressed within the confines of this blog. However, I will depart some information about myself, I am somebody from the Republic of Maldives, and I live in the capital island of Malé. I have lived in my state of existence for about 2 decades now and I am currently involved in serving the public, as their humble servant. My hobbies are spending numerous hours in the boundless world of the internet, reading Man’s greatest creation; books, scoring about an eight of my entire life in front of the tube, hanging out with the few simpletons called friends etc. Nothing spectacular or extravagant. The following, in no particular order, are interests of mine: Neanderthals, pulsars, biomemes, the Simpsons, government, radicalism, Neo-Nazism, video games, small doses of quantum physics, smaller doses of philosophy, quasars, the BBC, PBS, high-speed internet, High Definition TV, God, Atheism and Agnosticism.
About the Blog
The name of the site contra legem is from Latin (now defunct) literally meaning “agaisnt the law”. Somebody with a more profound sense of the meaning might think I am some sort of non-conformist or an anarchist. Whoever thinking that, you are wrong! I am neither of them. I acknowledge the importance of most laws, and by that I mean ones that appeal to my sense of morality and ones that are justified, at a common comprehensive level, of being beneficial to the common man (sorry, that goes for women too. I don’t believe in political correctness, I’d rather opt for grammatical ease).
At this point, you may be curious enough to ask “so what the heck is this guy against?”. Well, I am against all those laws and conformities that are shoved down the collective throats of people of all ages and walks of life regardless of whether they want it or not. These laws in the guise of something ‘good’ for all of us when in actual reality it only benefits a select few commonly known as the elite (or leaders, depending on who you ask). I find this particular character of both governments and religions one of the most perverted and vile acts created by humanity. What really upsets me is the knowledge that such features are omnipresent in the whole of human civilization and only a few of us are vocally and/or actingly demanding reforms. No matter how much we try, we shall never be able to attain ‘eutopia’ but as long as we try, through increasing awareness and education, we have hope for a better tomorrow where there is at least a sense of equality and uniform prosperity. This blog is dedicated, in its entirey, to this perpetual human effort.
And anything else I decide to dedicate it to, in the future.
